The brand is loud. The numbers are boring on purpose. Here is every figure the tools use, where it comes from, and when we last checked it.

How results are labelled

  • FACT Published by an official body (Revenue, CSO, DSP, Central Bank) or a published pay scale.
  • CALCULATED Worked out from your inputs and the published rules. Deterministic — same inputs, same answer.
  • ESTIMATE Approximate because of a stated simplification.
  • ASSUMPTION A default we chose. Always editable.
  • PROJECTION Depends on future growth or returns. Not a forecast, not a promise.
  • SELF-REPORTED Submitted anonymously by users; unverified.

Salary data

Official aggregates — CSOFACT

National median €44,816 a year / €730.89 a week; 2 sex, 8 county and 9 sector medians. Source: CSO — Earnings Analysis using Administrative Data Sources 2024 (reference year 2024). Built from Revenue PAYE records — effectively every employment, so no sampling error, but they are medians across all jobs, including part-time. They are never presented as the value of a specific job.

CSO pages couldn’t be fetched directly from our build environment; each figure was taken from the CSO release text and kept only if two independent retrievals agreed. Sectors and counties we couldn’t confirm are left out rather than estimated.

Public pay scalesFACT

Scale ranges, not market distributions. Transcribed from secondary publications of the official scales and cross-checked; confirm against the circular before relying on a single point.

SELFISH submissionsSELF-REPORTED

Anonymous, self-reported, unverified. No name, email or account is stored; a salted hash of the IP limits each person to 3 submissions a day. Only the last ~3 salary years count. Values outside €10k–€1m (or €50–€5,000/day) are rejected.

  • Under 5 submissions: nothing but the count is shown.
  • 5–9: median only, “low confidence”.
  • 10+: median and quartiles (linear interpolation). 30+ is labelled “moderate confidence”. Nothing is ever labelled “high”.
  • Figures are rounded to the nearest €100.

Why there are no invented job-title salaries

An earlier version of this site listed 39 role salaries labelled “CSO 2024”. The CSO publishes no such figures, so they were removed. Recruiter salary guides aren’t used as a primary source: their samples and methods aren’t published.

Property & mortgages

  • Central Bank mortgage measures: LTI 4× first-time buyers, 3.5× second and subsequent; LTV 90%; buy-to-let 70%. Central Bank of Ireland — Mortgage measures. Checked 2026-10-02.
  • Help to Buy: 10% of price, max €35,000, new homes to €500,000, to end-2029. Revenue — Help to Buy.
  • Stamp duty: 1% to €1m, 2% €1m–€1.5m, 6% above. Revenue — Stamp duty on property.
  • Rental tax: interest deductible (RTB-registered), capital not; losses carried forward against rental profit only; rental income relief as in the tax table above.

Known limitations

  • Annual calculations. Payroll runs weekly/monthly with cumulative credits, so individual payslips can differ by a few euro.
  • Married, both earning: shown with the default split of bands and credits.
  • Not modelled: medical-expense and other year-end reliefs in the take-home figure, carry-forward of unrelieved pension contributions, Class S for directors, non-resident tax, the Additional Superannuation Contribution for public servants, deemed disposal timing on funds.
  • BIK is entered as an amount — there is no company-car BIK calculator yet.
